Hector urgently needed a new home because of a change in his owners' lifestyle. He was a much loved family pet who became anxious and depressed when left alone. It's a very hard decision to take, but bravely they did what was best for Hector. I had a big hole in my life, having just lost my beloved Xaver, so it seemed as if we were meant to get together.

As Tomáš's daughter, Cilla was always part of the family, and I had arranged in advance that she would come to me for her retirement. She was one of several dogs, and is relishing the opportunity for a lot more attention.

The two are very different. As an only dog, Hector's manners with dogs he meets when out and about are impeccable, but he still isn't quite sure how to react when Cilla pinches his favourite ball, wants to have a game with him, or takes his spot on the sofa. He is a perfect gentleman, and allows her to get exactly what she wants, just heaving a plaintive sigh.
