Xaver was one of the 'oops' litter - a mating that I had planned for six months later. I had gone to Luxembourg with Erik and Pamatka, leaving Anika at home, having come into season a couple of days earlier, and a young Otto - who seemed to have no idea that she might be 'interesting'. We would only be away for one night, but I left strict instructions that if he did seem to be bothering her they should be split up.
We had a successful show, making up two new Luxembourg champions, and whilst I was waiting to go in the group I received a text - Otto and Anika are under the kitchen table - tied. What should I do?
We were home the next day and Erik, a very experienced stud dog, ignored her completely until a week later, so I assumed that there would be no puppies. How wrong can you be?
Xaver wasn't meant to stay, but there was just something about him that I couldn't ignore. As part of the Game Fair team he was Mr Cuddles - the one that everyone wanted to hug,
He was very little shown, but did go to the World Dog Show in Milan in 2015 and came home with the Junior World Winner and Italian Junior Champion titles.
